Windows and Treo 700wx experience
Having had the Verizon Treo 650 (Palm OS), I felt it was time to upgrade to the Verizon Treo 700wx (Windows OS). What a mistake.
Microsoft routinely performs background operations (checks battery charge status, performs active syncs, updates its OS, etc.) Due to constraints of Internet connectivity, and the Treo's inability to perform CPU intensive tasks the Smartphone is incapable of doing quickly, I find that the tasks that I want the phone to perform, such as MAKING A PHONE CALL, are sometimes interrupted by messages such as "Your battery is 75% charged" or "synclogic updated." Do I care?! Sometimes it won't even dial the number because it's preoccupied doing background tasks. Upon completion of those tasks it will then dial the number--TWO HOURS LATER! What a joke. I am considering using this Smart Phone simply as an expensive PDA to keep track of my appointments, then purchase a simpler phone that will act like a phone, not a buggy Windows OS that acts like a slow desktop computer that freezes often. |

yeah... but it just so happens that right now, the Treo 750 only comes in Windows and the Treo 755 only comes in palm... they are the same phone, but one has windows and one has palm.

Sounds like something is wrong with your 700wx. I have had mine for about 4 months now and has been rock solid for me. Never had a problem making a phone or receiving calls. I use about 4000 minutes a month so I would consider myself a power user. BTW . . all those notifications can de disabled under "Settings" / "Sounds and Notifications". |
