soo i bought this radar detector about 6 months ago and im having problems with it....first alot of false alarms (no biggie most radars do that)...but it never picks up when im driving down the parkway and the cop is using his laser gun..and third the smartCord mutedisplay lights doesnt light up anymore....i dont know whats happend at first it was working awesome but now it seems to be not that great anymore...so what im asking is how does the warranty work?...do they try to fix it or something? has anyone sent it to them?

As far as the falsing maybe you should switch your setting from highway to auto or maybe even city. I live in NJ too and unfortunately they still use X-band which causes MANY of my falses. X-band is easy to detect but sometimes I am uncertain if it's a legit source or not.

As for laser most radar detectors have a VERY hard time picking it up because by the time it goes off, the cop has your speed because it is so fast, so for that you would need a laser jammer like the Blinder M-20.

Maybe they'll send you a new smart cord if your detector is still in warranty which I think it is because it's only six months old. My first X-50 went bad and I just sent it to them and they sent me a brand new one (different serial number). I would call them about the smart cord though, they are pretty good about it. Maybe a V1 should be considered if it doesn't work out well!

well it is in auto and i do understand what you mean by the jersey and the Xband b/c my cousin has the V1 and he gets them all the time as well.....but im deffantly going to call about the smart cord problem...thanks for the tip...btw how did you send the radar back to them?

i just called them and man there really nice....the guy was mad chill he said we put it through a couple of test and if its messed up will give you a brand new one oor will try to repair it......nicest customer service ever

Best Buy are authorized. Buy one from eBay and you are SOL. Heck, buy one from eBay and you may have a 8500 X50 case with 7500 innards.

humm i know alot of people are going to flame me on this but im just not digging the V1 me and my cousin switched i gave him my x50 and i took his v1 for a week and wasnt impressed by it.....and for 400bucks the x50 does the same for 300....and it looks nicer the v1 reminds me of a game cube
