KW Sleeve kit for 1M

I've noticed a couple of people have had the KW sleeve kit fitted to their 1M's, however, as far as I'm aware there is no specific 1M kit, only a kit for the E9_ M3.

Is there a specific 1M kit? because the OEM dampers valving is different in the 1M compared to the M3?

Thanks

seems like the way to go between springs and k&w clubsports if you don't want to risk the stock shocks or spend the cash.
Will the M3 sleeve kit fit? Or is there something in the works?

There is no 1M specific kit, the E9X M3 kit will work. There are a few people on here running that setup.

It will work, however it was not designed for the 1M's dampers. The valving is different from the M3.

Yes this is correct. It will work but it isn't optimal.

The valving is not the main issue ... the spring rates are different ... The springs in that kit are made to work with M3 not 1M.

Ground Control has a kit with the appropriate springs rates and gives you the same adjustability ... It also comes with adjustable camber/caster plates.

Feel free to PM me for pricing or more info.

Although the sleeve over kit is a good idea, the spring rates used by aftermarket tuners in this type of kit in general will cause an under damped condition.

If you are looking to lower the car, this kit may be okay, but it is not at all geared towards handling performance.

Be on the lookout for a TC Kline Racing sleeve over kit that uses close to oem spring rates to keep everything at criticle damping.

eas has one under the 1M. Is there a 1M specific kit now? or are they just listing the M3 one as compatible?

The 1M front dampers are (100%) equal to the M3 competition package dampers. The rear dampers are unique to the 1M.

Regardless of the damper valving being equal / different, spring design is mostly weight dependent (at equal travel). Because the 1M and M3 differ in weight, M3 springs are not optimal for an 1M.

BTW there is/(will be) a 1M specific KW V3 coilover kit (with DDC: electronic adjusting). Not sure if those springs will mechanically fit along the OEM dampers?

According to KW, no 1M specific spring/sleeve kit for is planned as of this moment (could change in future if there is the demand).

Still torn and somewhat confused.
If spring rates differ between different spec'd M3's; shouldn't aftermarket springs for 1M and M3 be close enough to be interchangeable (specifically since most are progressive)? I mean, there are so many factors that will affect the weight: weight of driver, number of passengers, things in the trunk, etc.
With progressive springs and re-enforced bump stops, what makes the KW sleeve kit worse than stock?

I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of these for the 1M. But now I am having second thoughts as I just found out they are not 1M specific.

I would go with the ground-control kit or a set of true coilovers at this point.

You will be happier with the end result with a set of high quality coilovers, but if you do decide to go with a sleeve-over, make sure the spring rates are very conservative so you are not exceeding the damping capabilities of the stock struts and dampers.

Sorry if this is a very noob question, is it possible to buy Koni Yellows or other aftermarket struts to pair with Ground Control sleeve over kit? Does that make it a coilover? My friend says the combination is better coz I'd be blowing the OEM struts due to my stiff spring rate on Eibach springs and lowered ride and the OEM struts not designed to handle the constant over compression....

am i screwed? is the only way to go KWV3?
