Perhaps you are right. I don't think the BMW stated figures are whp and if the graph was taken from BMW it's measuring output at the crank.

Looks like SAE output, so it's bang on for a North American M57Y. There's also a chart buried in the BMW tech presentation that's kicking around here as well...filename: "ST810 - Advanced Diesel Technology workbook.pdf"

Ahh, I'm after the UK Output - it slipped my mind the engines differ slightly! Thanks for that anyway

Not to thread jack but, what exactly does differ hardware wise from a Euro 35d to US 35d?

Only the urea injection as far as I know. That wouldn't affect power.

I think the US spec is rated with the lowest common denominator diesel fuel, because the US minimum is 40 cetane but it's 51 in Europe. Assuming you're running good fuel the US and Euro cars are probably identical in performance, though I haven't seen any US vs. Euro dyno charts to back that up.

The US version has 20 odd HP less than Euro spec.

We're aware. I was trying to discern why. What is different? Is it hardware, software? Is it from fuel quality, emissions equipment, etc...

What does gasoline have to do with any of this? Never mind the differences in RON and PON octane ratings.

Here's a stock 335d on our dyno. Fifth gear, SAE correction 1.04.

Note that these numbers are at the WHEELS, not at the engine.

What do you expect the OEM chart to show you that an actual dyno chart doesn't?

I just want to compare it with the other engines that I already have a manufacturer chart for.
