In a similar situation. Wondering if it'll be cheaper just to do it myself.

No.

It should be around $70-90 for an oil change.

It costs less to have it changed by a shop? Interesting. When I had my Corolla, it was only cheaper to have the shop change it using cheap oil..is this the same logic?

No, BMW motors require a specific oil which is $$$. It also requires a lot of oil, so its not going to be cheap.

The price of materials for my car is like $65 from getbmwparts for the OEM oil change kit. So, it's up to you...you have to do the labor and deal with the old oil as opposed to taking it somewhere and having them deal with everything for $xx markup

How about Mark's Japanese European Auto? Anyone has any experience with them? There's a Groupon going on right now for $29.

http://www.groupon.com/deals/marks-j...auto?c=dnb&p=6

I was considering buying it but not sure about their service.

Really? You want to take your car to a place that deals with Japanese cars and will end up using the wrong oil.

I'm just asking if anyone had any experience with them. Their site looks legit and they do charge $111.20 for an oil change and all those inspections. Only reason they are at $29 now is because of the Groupon. In case you don't know what Groupon is it's a group-buy discount. Also, please read carefully, it says "Japanese European." I can't see why a shop can't service both.

I say do it yourself. Just did mine, the easiest oil change I've ever done. Costs about 50 dollars total including an OEM BMW Filter.
