Wrapping my vehicle in Matte Black Vinyl.

So I have been talking about it for a long time and now its time to actually do it. I started two days ago and the progress is slow to say the least. I bought a few dvds on car wrapping which helped but the process is all about learning how the vinyl acts. I hear a lot of people saying "oh do it yourself its not too bad". NOPE, its a lot harder than that and it takes some real patience and a steady hand.

So far I have done the mirrors, antenna, trunk and hood. All in all I think ive spent about 13 hours doing those which is A LOT. I still have all the side panels, bumpers and the roof. Im actually dreading it at this point considering the other stuff took me so long to do and im only 1/4 done. The other reason could be that i was up until 4:30am this morning wrapping and then dragged myself to the shop. Not exactly a morning person to begin with let alone on 4 hours of sleep.

Here are some pictures. Ill update it as I go along:

The front bumper looks like it's gonna take some time.

Yup....

I ended up buying 3m 1080 Controltac. I used the 48" version. Next time im going with the 60" version I dont have to stretch so much on the hood.

Looks good.

I'm assuming you're doing a dry install....correct?

I found it alot easier to do a wet install.....however you have to make sure all the water is squeegeed out.

I know the professional way is to do a dry install but a wet install looks the same if done correctly and is way easier. Especially with only 1 or 2 people.

Also DO NOT wrap around edges.

Thanks for all the comments guys... It really is a pain in the ass and with the amount of time spent on it im really having a tough time pushing through. The hardest part so far was the trunk by far. The top looks clean but the back is very hard to do especially in one piece. Today im planning on doing the roof, starting the front bumper and doing the back bumper. I will upload pictures of what I get done.

holy shit what happened to those wheels??

back on topic, good job so far! I know it's tough, I tried wrapping my roof but gave up due to ripping a hole in the center. I was pretty pissed that day haha. I didn't use 3M controltac though, so that might've been it. The few times that I have used 3M (for window trim, interior trim), it was easy to work with.
