Thumbs up My old e90 lci 335i and my new E46 M3

Nothing special here with the pics, but just a way to remember my old e90 and celebrate my new e46 m3.

I liked my e90, and it was definitely fast, but my M has been a dream car since I was a kid. Its amazing. If there is interest, I will add pics as I continue to add a couple small changes here and there. Up next, angel eyes and euro HID's, then black grills.

Thanks for looking! And both cars are 6mt...

Very interesting that you went from an E90 335i to a E46 M3. I have driven both as well but don't think would be able to go backwards in years although the M still looks amazing. Props to you for doing that. I must say that I do remember the E46 M3 to be more fun, or have my expectations risen since then? How would you describe the change?

Thanks I think

I find that the m is much more fun to drive, despite being slower than a tuned n54 car. The handling is so much better and the m also rides smoother than my old e90. The throttle response is a huge improvement as well.

It's more of a drivers car than the e90 and definitely feels more raw and exciting. If you can't tell, I love it haha. And of course, IMO the looks of the m are amazing, and to this day the car looks special ad awesome.

One other thing to note is that to me, the e46 has a much easier to drive manual transmission. Mine is an 06 with 56k.

make sure you sub-frame is still doing ok =)
all of my friends have been fixed their sub-frame in the E46M... pretty scary crack and definitely dangerous to drive around with a cracked sub-frame. enjoy the beast!

My biggest complaint on the N55 is the power build-up and throttle response being too smooth and runs out of breath in between shifts. I really hope a good flash tune will fix this. The car does not feel like a 5 sec car. Enjoy your M

nah if anything id do an ESS kit with the vortech blower. 5 psi, 400+ whp and 300wtq for 5500. and believe me, that would be a LOT in an m3. they put power to the ground really well and are lighter than the e9x

best way to know if you want one is to go test drive one. they are very different than the e9x. The entire car is basically more "amped up" than the e9x. It has hypersensitive reaction time, steering response, throttle response (massive difference imo) and just feels quicker and more nimble. The handling is also a huge difference. The M is somehow both better handling and smoother riding than the e9x at the same time.

You can really feel how much lighter the M feels on its feet compared to the e9x. I always felt that my e9x felt heavy and slow witted.

Overall, the M is a true sports car. The e9x is a cruiser. Despite my tuned e9x being more powerful than the M and having a better sound system, the M is leagues better in every other category. It truly feels like a "special" car, not just another car. It's in a league of its own, and its one of my favorite cars of all time. JMO

Yes the e9x is hard to tell when you are going fast. I find the M to be a much more visceral and exiciting experience. THe tune will make a big difference, especially if you go with Cobb and get it protuned. The e9x is a great car, just not an M3 imo. For most people, its likely the superior option for a comfortable cruiser.
