Anyone with a Laser Interceptor?
I have a v1 for radar and laser detection and am looking for a laser jammer. The Laser Interceptor has some favorable reviews. http://www.laser-interceptorusa.com/ Does anyone have experience with this unit or others?

I have Laser Interceptor Quad, and also have experience with other units.
Here's my take: 1) Laser Interceptor is by a large margin the best laser jammer out there. It's the only one with laser diodes, and is significantly more successful at jamming than other products. The Blinder M47 comes close but is not as powerful. The Laser Interceptor can also integrate V1 alerts and give you voice announcement of radar signals from the V1 (e.g. K band detected) 2) The difference between the Blinder and the Laser Interceptor is both the strength of the jamming pulse, and the radius it covers. Blinder works well for smaller cars like the 3 series. On larger cars you will get punchthrough by lidar guns at certain distances. 3) Don't buy the Escort product. I had it first (came included with my Passport 9500Ci) and it is pretty much useless for a car of this size. May help if you have a Black Z4 with veiled headlights, but on a 5er it's not going to help at all. 3) Mounting is everything. Most Laser Jammer installs whether Laser Interceptor or a lowly ZR4 simply do not work. To work right, they have to be aligned straight and level. If they are pointing up at sky or down at road, or sideways into the field, then it won't work. Also they have to have a clear view becasue they are pulsing light back to the lidar gun. If you hide it in the grille, then it won't work either. When aligned right, they are like magic. 4) It is critical to test them. I ran my car up and down a country road, while an enthusiast shot my car with 5 different Lidar guns. This process first told me the ZR4 didn't work at distances shorted than 1700 feet. The second time with the Laser Interceptors the guy got not reading on the front, but could read my speed on the back at distances above 300 feet. I checked the alignment and it was off. I fixed the alignment, and now no reading on the back at any distance. Also no reading on front at any distance. I tested it on both level and undulating surfaces, and in both cases - no speed reading at any distance. That is what you want - bullet proof performance. Many installers will focus on the aesthetics - hiding the laser jammers behind the grille, or mounting them too low to make them invisible. Don't do this - if you are spending this money do it in a way that they work. Otherwise don't bother. Here are the golden rules: 1) Mount as close as possible to headlight and grille (most reflective parts of car) 2) Use spirit level to ensure lenses are level with the ground. 3) Use a stick or a string to ensure the direction is aligned with the longtitudinal axis of car, i.e. straight line between jammer heads should be perpendicular with longitudinal axis. 4) Test with a real lidar gun before you sign off on the Install. You can find enthusiasts to help you on radardetector.net Here's a link to pics of my install. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-t...er-jammer.html |

Great info. Thanks for your detailed response. I will be ordering the laser interceptor. Do you have it integrated with V1? Does the voice alert become annoying?

You may be able to get a discount if you tell Cliff at LI USA that Batman from radardetector.net sent you and said you could get the rd.net discount. |

I have a Li on my X5 and can highly recommend it too. I bought mine through a group buy on M5board. Here's a link to the group buy thread. Send Cliff at LI a PM through that board.
