I am wondering if its possible to use a spare tire for the xDrive without granading the transfer case?

Esp something like this... or a doughnut.

Should be fine as long as you're not driving it a long distance...people have a tendency to just drive on their donut

Supposedly, either the Spare Tire Kit from Tischer or Leather Z will work (although leather Z kit needs a spacer also). Neither company will come right out and recommend/guarantee functionality as neither was actually designed for 3 series cars (obviously a liability issue). I was told as long as I didn't drive for extended periods on it that it would more than likely not harm the x-Drive.

I gave up wondering which is better and ended up just buying a new factory wheel/tire to match my exsiting 17" wheels from a forum member for $250. Same price as the kits but the tire/wheel is full size. I only use it in the winter since my winter setup uses non-RFT WS70's. Not worried how much space it takes up as I normally don't put anything in the trunk anyway.

Course I had to buy the 3 Series Jacking Kit also...

If ever I put a spare tire, I gotta remember to get a jack too! :/

Is there a specific 3 series jack?

The E60 spare kit (doughnut) comes with a jack and a lug wrench, got mine from Bimmerzone for $339 and free shipping.
