Z28 to G35 to 335i

Hey all... I am fairly new to the forum (Oct) and just wanted to share my story and some pics of going from a 1991 Camaro Z28 to a 2005 Infiniti G35 to the 335i. Just 3 words...

Can't Even Compare!

I had the Z28 for something like 11 years. It was a fun car to drive for what it was and it had a lot of power (including no car payment). But as it aged, things broke and broke and continued to break. I dumped way too much money into that poor thing. I was at my wits end with the Z28 in 2005 when it failed the smog test and at the same time the A/C had gone out. That was the last draw... time for a new car!

The G35 was more of an impulse buy than anything. I did test drive a 330i and loved how it drove but it didn’t seem to have the power I wanted. I really didn’t want to take a step down from the V-8 so when I test drove the G35, it did ok and I really liked the looks of it. For the price it seemed to be an all around descent car… Until I got home and went over the numbers again. Talk about one naive fool… I was going to pay more for the damn car (msrp) and then have to give it back to them. They suckered me into a 5 year Lease at $696.99 PER MONTH. Talk about a dummy. I bitched and bitched and gave bad reviews, etc, etc, but they would do nothing for me. Well, as karma would have it, the car kept having airbag issues and after the fourth time of replacing the airbag module, I lemmoned the car. I basically had to give them an 18 month interest free loan while using a G35 for the cost of gas and insurance only. Not a bad deal in my eyes. That karma will get you every time… They lost a reference and customer for life. Even if the 2008 G35 compared to a Lambo, I wouldn’t touch it or recommend it. Hope it was worth it to make that sale.

Anyway, I made the best of it. I thought the G35 was a pretty good ride... until I test drove the 335i.

That's all she wrote folks.

335i - More power, better handling, better everything. I could go on and on about this car vs the G35, but there is really no need. I know it has been covered in this forum time and time again. I couldn’t be happier with the UPGRADE!

Stats:
-Montego blue
-Grey with aluminum
-Sport package
-Auto w/paddles (Los Angeles traffic)
-Premium package
-Heated seats
-Comfort package
-Navi w/iPod interface
-Rear sunshade

Mods planned:
- XEDE scheduled for install on Feb 11. (Hang on boys and girls) maybe I will need new tires!
- Tints planned. Not sure on what percentage yet. California are jerks about it.
-Would like to look into getting the reflectors painted.
-Might think about rims and tires in the future sometime, but I am content for now.
-Of course, always looking at mods in this forum and getting ideas…

Thank everyone for the invaluable information and excitement of waiting to take delivery of this awesome car. This community rocks!

Nice read buddy! Congrats! Did you buy or lease your car?
I've always financed cars and have never leased before.
The deal there trying to give me is a 3yr lease, $998/month(canadian) at 6.9%
Tell me what you think. I really dont know the difference between financing and leasing besides the fact that one is "borrowed" and once is bought.
You seem to know what your talking about being in a 5 year lease.

I leased this car at $668.43 per month for 3 years. My rep made it so the cost of the car in the end is the same if I were to purchase or Lease. I am not the most knowledgeable on Leasing as I had some help this time. I know there are members that know more than myself.
$998 sounds a bit high.

I got the auto because I am in Los Angeles traffic alot. Makes it easier

Guys, the car in US in much cheaper than in Canada. Plus $670 US is $805CAN, and plus 14% taxes on the top of that. There is the difference.

NICE CAR!

Thanks for the comments!

I really like the aluminum trim as it seems to me sportier looking. Just my preference though. Maybe the kid at heart...

enientytwo - Definitely do your research on your current rates in CAN vs. the US dollar. I know there are plenty of people that would help you out in these forums.

dArNeLLi - Good choice on waiting for the 335i. It kills the G35 in my opinion.

I've always loved that shade of blue, the aluminum and grey interior is unique and real nice, great choice.

You need to see a JetBlack E92 335i with black leather and dark burl walnut trim... WOW! But to each his own.

Yeah, doesn't do it for me...too "luxury like" and not enough "sportiness" for me. I can't do the Black on Black either...or any exterior/interior color the same either. I guess i'm just weird like that..I dunno. haha, so I can't dig your reply, but I do dig you Sig. I can't wait for the Inline 6 turbo engine to makes it's way to the 5. Nor can I wait for the supposed twine turbo 4.4litre v-8 that is supposed to be available in the 2009 5 series. Just imagine being able to put twin turbos on the m3's v8.

Anyways all that is way off topic. Awesome car, I love the Montego blue. It would have been my first choice, but i was dissapointed to hear that Jade Grey/Black interior is not available here in the states...so I'll soon be ordering TiAg with coral red/black interior with aluminum trim.

i had thought about the grey interior because of the sun, but decided it would scuff to easily, plus i didnt want the under dash area to be grey and then the top be black, looks kind of :/
