Navigation unit on 1M ?

Does anyone know if navigation will come standard or will it be an option?

I really don't want that distracting unit cluttering my dashboard.

I'm guessing it will be standard. You will probably want to have it for playing with the M drive settings. Not to mention the new ipod interface software should be pretty cool.

It's not standard for the M3, so I doubt it will come standard in the 1M. As of Sep 2010, M Drive doesn't require Nav in the M3, and I guess the 1M is one reason for this move.

Best regards,

It just brings visualization, everything else is still there functionality wise. I do not watch a nav. screen to change the radio to my fav. station

Sure hope the carbon roof is standard. Anyone who options to remove the carbon one for a steel sunroof does not have my respect

For £40k I sure do hope nav comes as standard as this will be my daily driver.
It's currently standard on M3 in UK.

Either that or I hope it ends up less then the current guestimates are suggesting.

I also hope cf roof is standard which Scott has suggested.

I hope it's optional personally to save costs all round. I have a little sat nav that sticks to the window just fine, does a good job too, only 100 quid (about 130 dollars). I can see the want for gadgetry though in M cars, they are daily drivers most most buyers, so equipment is important - I mean I'd love a HUD in a 1M, but I'm a minority there no doubt and can't see it happening. I would happily pay extra for it.

I'd be more interested in the money going into a cf roof, which is a real badge of honour with these M cars now. I will be absolutely over the moon if it has a cf roof along with the aggressive styling we've seen so far. For around 40k, there's only so much they're going to be stick in an M car really.

I still think £44k seems to be a more realistic price for this 1M, but I'd like to be wrong of course!

I agree. Tech also dates very quickly, so five years down the track it's going to look clunky and awkward compared to current (future) tech.

Why do you even need nav? This is supposed to be a car, for driving, not a multi-media center. You're supposed to get enjoyment from the actual car, not its accessories.

Personally I love the nav / idrive. And in some markets top of the range means fully loaded or near enough to justify price.

You are right on, think of the M drive button like power seat memory (from what I have heard), turn the options you want on hold the M button for a few seconds and the next time you press it it recalls those settings.
