Detector Advice

I'm considering the Passport Q45 - which is effectively the 8500 installed. The unit is $400 plus another $250 for the laser shifters.

At the same price I can get the Valentine or the 9500ix - but both are dash units.

Without this turning into a Valentine v Escort battle - PLEASE - can someone tell me whether the 8500 functionality is as good, or worse than the 9500.

I am well aware of the benefits of the GPS, red light database... I'd just prefer a installed detector and don't want to spend $1300 for the top of the line Escort.

ive never used the 8500, but im a 9500ix owner, and not once has it failed me. r u getting the zr4 laser shifter?
