Question Poor Man's Support

This is a 330i sport package car. Is it good to use this aluminum piece to support the weight of the car on the front? Fellas, don't try this at home pls.

You're serious? You sure this wasn't supposed to be posted in the Lighter Side of E90Post section?

I definitely wouldn't want to mess with that.

I found a good place to use jack stand in the rear but on the front, the jack stand is too tall.

Just make sure your shocks aren't fully extended when you have the car on blocks, it can supposedly damage them if done for a long period of time... You want to lift it just enough to take most of the weight off the wheels.

at least you have the load spread out using a wood block

AL is SOFT stuff compared to steel and I'd personally not touch any of it with a jack stand, jack ..........

well, I just have not had time to figure out what to buy to lift and support my car when I rotate tires (side to side rotation). Since I really need to rotate, I am using this method temporarily until I can invest in some real jack (or maybe even 2 jacks). The AL bar was the only thing I thought was safe to use as support (for a short time while I switch wheels). You really have to be very careful and I was never under the car with only the wood support. By next time I need to rotate tires, I think I will have come up with something much better.

Tex, Why not go to a local wheel shop and have them rotated for around 25 bucks? Seems like the time you spent designing your jack system and taking pictures; combined with the risk of damage fto your precious machine far outweigh the cost.

cuz i dont wanna hear them tell me how worn out my shoes are and why rotate tires that are worn out and them trying to sell/convince me to put on new shoes. Yeah, ppl say i am brave but had something gone wrong, I would feel very stupid. But I have inspected everything under the front and felt that the AL wold hold up on some super sized Jenga blocks . wont be doing that again and I dont think anyone should do what i did. I doubt anything is bent. If anything bent, it would be the softwer blocks of wood under heavy load.
