Question for anyone living in NYC but bought their car in NJ
Anyone get their car in NJ but live in NYC? I got my car in Jersey and had to wait almost 3 weeks for my license plate and registration.
It finally came along with a NYC temporary 10 day emissions piece of paper for me to tape on my windshield. Does this mean that I have to take my car in to get it inspected???? Does this 37 dollars come out of my pocket? I called the dealer and he said he would find out and get back to me. Shouldn't they take care of all of this for me???? |

I purchased my car in NJ, but it is registered in NY. A NJ dealer will not be able to inspect your car. You will have to take the car to be inspected on your own.
In my case, my plates were sent to the dealer and after picking them up I stopped off at a shop and had the inspection performed on the way home.

Why $37... should only pay for safety inspect. The car is brand new. Bring it over to a NY dealer and see what they want.

Its been over a year, so I don't remember the exact cost. But, I am almost positive it was less than $37 (maybe $20 or so). All they did was check the lights, etc. There was no emissions test.
