Earthquake Subwoofer - Group Buy?

Hi all, I've located the Hong Kong distributor for the Earthquake SWS-8 subwoofer. I've asked if we could get a discount for a group purchase (waiting for a reply). Just want to check how many of you might be interested to purchase if we get a group buy together?

you'd be better off ordering it directly from ebay, around US$320/pair shipped!

Actually, I am told by the local distributor that they'd sell the 4 ohm version at a pretty good discount, such that it'd be quite a bit cheaper (& faster) than that to buy it here in town. But now I'm waiting to hear if they can get the 2 ohm version--I've been chatting with a member in the UK that just installed the 4 ohm version and he's wishing he went with the 2 ohm as the mids/tweets are 2 ohm. Since the subs are harder to drive than the mids and tweeters, he has to play with the bass boost on his amp and bass control on the head unit to get a balanced sound.

Am told by the HK distributor that the 2 ohm version will be available in Hong Kong around July. I will probably just wait until then to get the subs.

Yes, agree that you need an amp if going with aftermarket subs. I picked up the Vibe Litebox S4 when in UK recently. A few members have posted good experiences with this amp as an alternative to the Blaupunkt & Alpine amps that most people are using for relatively simple installs.

Just wanted to revive this and ask how everything turned out with the SWS-8 group buy? I am interested in this upgrade.

Did not have interest in the group buy so I ended up purchasing from the local distributor. I wasn't as cheap as on ebay, but since there were no shipping costs it worked out as lower cost. Not sure if they still have stock, ping me if you're interested in the contact and I'll try to dig it up in my old emails.

Btw, I'm very happy about the upgrade but you really do need an amp to drive the speakers. See my other threads if you want more info about my upgrade path. Also happy to let you hear how the subs sound.
