JB3 1.4 Map 5 vs Dinan Stage 2 at PBIR
Well, here's the timeslip (attached).. We had two runs and were about a tenth of a second from one another both times. This run I did 12.99 and my second run was a 13.0x.. Jason's run a 12.80 before so I'm assuming under the right circumstances, I'm not far behind. On my third run (this was my first time ever to a drag strip), I finally got a .020 reaction time. So I got that down.. Unfortunately, the road was dewey and I had little traction and had to come off the gas a few times - and got a 13.8...
So anyway.. My car also has a dual cone intake along with the JB3 piggyback.. Jason's (Jjse90) Dinan 335i just has the flash.. I hope to get out there more often. It was a lot of fun. I'm planning on doing a front mount intercooler and possibly downpipes before my next run... That and running Map 7 should make things more interesting for me. In any event, do my numbers seem okay? Or is my car slow for how it's modified? Also - can anyone estimate what my 0-60 time might have been?

Nice write up Sal you were not kiddin' when you said you were going to do a little write up on this.
It was alot of fun out there at the track we should try to make it out there again soon.... my guess is that the dinan stage 2 is about equal with jb3 map5.... but who knows...

I think your 0-60 should be around 4.2-4.4 seconds traction permitting

Your lucky to see 12's on map 5 i couldnt do better than 13.3 @106 on map 5 but i switched that puppy to map 7 and got a 12.82 @111. map 7 is a big differnce you feel it once you hit 3rd gear the car pulls hard. My mods are jb3,intake,muffler delete.

eh, I'm reluctant to do so. Jason (jjse90) was telling me something about the upgrade where if you purchased the 1.4 less than 6 months prior to purchasing the 2.0, there was a deal where you could return the original piece for a refund. Is that the case? If so, tell me about it. Also - he mentioned hearing something about not having to reinstall all the plug 'n play stuff - just the black piece.. The reason I wonder about this is because I broke a clip the last time I played with them and I'd rather not have to go through that again. I'm clumsy... So any input here would be greatly appreciated.
Otherwise, I'm more interested in spending my money on an upgraded FMIC and down pipes... I like the 1.4 and I feel it's as smooth as it needs to be. I'm probably not going to upgrade unless I'm getting better performance. Any smoother acceleration and I'll fall asleep at wide open throttle...

Interesting. I figured most guys with my mods were doing 12.7s... I guess I was wrong.. So 12.99 was pretty good then. Maybe if I switch to map 7 as is, I'd be close to 12.5 then... Hopefully with the FMIC and downpipes along with map 7 I'll be in the low 12s...

I still have to read up about whether or not the JB3 upgrade is as simple as switching the black box. That would make my decision easier. Otherwise, I have a feeling I should hold off on running map 7 until I get more than just a DCI on as a bolt-on mod. I'll be getting an FMIC and catless downpipes at some point this summer. So I'll be good to go then.

Hey Sal maybe try posting this back up in the technical turbo section of the forum you might get a little more response to some of your questions you had and more feedback about the comparison. Seems to be more members in those sections about comparing different maps and mods etc. Just my thought talk to ya later
