Hi, as of now I am just asking the question, but I am currently on a lease of a 2007 328xi which is over this coming Summer. I am most likely going to go into buying a CPO 335i or xi...sedan/coupe. I was wondering with the market today just to see whats out there...are there any 335's out there with the following options that I can get for a lease of max $400/month.

Black Exterior
Black interior
Aluminium or Glacier Trim
Navi
M-tech

I dont know much about leasing from BMW but i did hear that they actually cost pretty much the same as having a new one made.

Economically, I don't think it makes sense to lease to buy at the end. I think it makes more sense if you want to try a car for 2-3 years and then exchange it for a newer model.

If you are sure about what you want, then just buy it.

You'll never lease a 335 (never mind one with those options) for $400/mo without putting an exorbitant amount of money down. Putting $1000s down on a lease doesn't make sense. Even finding a bare-bones 328 for $400/mo with sub-$3k down is a tough deal.

Leases have improved since the beginning of this year, but any deal on that page is with $4-7k due at signing (which is why the numbers seem cheap) and 10k miles per year. The F01 is over $8k due at signing. The 1ers and 3ers are only equipped with Step and ZPP for that price also.

25000 at 5% for 6 years is ~400/month. Go look at the CPO market to see how much car you can get for 25K.

I think financing a used car for 6 years is a terrible idea. It will probably be past it useful life. Never mind the 4k in interest you would be paying.

You are talking about a car that retails for about $46K. You're best bet is to put a lot down and finance for 5 years. Given what you said, I doubt this will work for you. Monthly payments over 5 years at 6% interest on $46K are $889.00!

My suggestion is to buy a CPO 328i. You might be able to get one at your price with enough up front. A 335, no way.

I don't like to finance a depreciating asset unless there is a real reason (Interest rate less than savings account)...but always have the cash on hand. If you don't have the money, save.

Another rule of thumb I've heard is to have the car paid for completely by it's 5th birthday. So if you buy a 2 year old car, pay it off in 3 years. 3 year old car, pay it off in 2.

You seem like you are willing to sacrifice for the car. Why not reevaluate your budget and cut from other places (new clothes, eating out, entertainment).

I have no idea what CPO's cost but kbb should give you an idea.

This will never happen on a 335i that you would want to own. To get that payment you're looking at financing !$20k-$22k over 5 yrs.

I think you're probably better off saving your money....for now, these cars (328 or 335) are not cheap and it would be a terrible financial move if you get into it and find out a few months in you really can't afford it.
