curbed alloys!!!! :(

i am so hurt right now! shamefully i managed to curb my frigging alloys today, quite badly as well on the right hand side!

I have from various people that the oem 19inch alloys are hard to get refurbished for some reason or another.......

has anyone got their 19inch oem's refurbished yet? if you have, any recommendations around the london area and at what price!?

thank you in advance!

they are always fixable unless its bent right out of shape. Which I am sure yours are not BENT.

They are relatively easy to fix for a good rim shop

I feel your pain - I curbed 2 rims over a three day span at the same BMW dealer on the car I'm trading in. First time since I bought the car.

Bird's doesn't do rims? If not, I'd bet they know who does.

It depends on how bad it is, and also where you are located?

I use a guy called Trevor to repair my wheels for my E60 M5. He has a mobile wheel refurb business and comes to you. His work is top notch. 07957142353. Good luck.

Try lepsons in gillingham, kent.

http://www.lepsons.com/

They are one of the best wheel refurbishers around. I showed them my kerbed 19 inch wheels are they said they could help. However, they did say because the 19s are diamond cut, the finish will not be 100% spot on and that the lacquer that they apply may start to discolour or become 'milky'.

At least they were honest. So yes the 19s alloys are a pain to refurb

thank you, that's actually very useful info as I have heard of this place to be one of the best and was probably on top of my list.

just a few questions, since the refurbishment, have you experienced any discolouration on your alloy like they said?

also did you have to leave your alloys with them? (i only have one car :S)

thanks again

This is interesting as I plan to take my 19s to them soon. Given the above, has anyone considered getting their 19's painted gloss black, similar to the new M3 'edition' model? I'm debating this, but am unsure how it would look on a Jerez black car...

Also Don, any indication of cost from Lepsons to redo your alloys?

You can leave your car or alloy with them and they will refurb it, put the tyre on it and balance it.

They dont guarantee thier refurbs on diamond cut wheels, whereas other wheels come with a years guarantee I think.

In the end I never did get them refurbed because of the potential to discolour. I'm a fussy git and so got myself another set from ebay reasonably cheap. Plan was to get the original set refurbed and powder coated matt black and use them as my winter rims.

I'm extra careful when I park now.

here is a picture of a jerez black with gloss black 19inch oem rims. think this belongs to one of the members from the U.S. section, hope it help. Personally I am not a huge fan of all blacked out cars, but you can never tell unless you see one in the flesh!

it would be extremely useful if someone has a rough idea of the refurbishment price of lepsons.

has nobody got their 19inch oem's refurbished? from anywhere?

its a bit tough avoiding the kerbs in london!

If you leave you car with them I think its £80 ish. Cheaper if you just drop the wheel off

Garage List
Curbed my front driver's side alloy wheel today
It is mainly round the edge so hoping won't be too bad to sort out.

Anyone used Perfection Alloys in Leicester?

Another vote for Lepsons. I had my MKV Golf GTI (I just happen to love M3's so tend to have a nose around here) wheels with the diamond cut finish refurbed with them. I'd wager the finish on the Golf wheels are even harder to match than the M3 as they have a two tone effect. Anyway they refurbed two which were a perfect match, you'd never know. They said the same about not being able to guarentee the finish, but it's been 18 months now and no sign of any problems.

I had to leave the car with them for a couple of days as I didn't have 2 spare wheels to put on it. Can't remember the exact cost but it was circa £100

The damn 19s are the bane of my life with this car. I think I only kerbed wheels twice in 8 years on my Audi and already I've worked my way around 3 of 4 corners in just over 3 months....I daren't drive it incase I take out the remaining front...

The wheels are unbelievably vulnerable. The 2nd time I actually had to get out of the car to see the "kerb" I'd ground it on as it was so small. 2 wheels are just scuffs, but the other day I managed to power over a traffic island in a slightly road-ragey flash of anger (oh how they must have laughed).

Do we reckon there's hope for this wheel?

Finally, it sounds like there's enough of us around london to be able to arrange a special rate?

Pesky wheels!
