Has anybody fitted an aftermarket ipod touch or iphone adapter / unit into their E90/92/93 M3, If so is it any good?

I asked my local dealer but they just scratched their heads and look on inanely

Thanks

I had telephone wiring and bought an iphone snap in for the car for £60 but all it does is charge the phone, which is fine for me. I didnt order the USB in the armrest thingy which is what you need for proper ipod compatibility. BMW wanted about £450 + vat to aftermarket fit it or £299 for one in the glove box (whatever use that would be!). I have just gone down the road of putting my music on a USB and loading onto the car through the USB in glovebox. The car has a 12.5 GB hard drive for this stuff....which is why I didnt buy a CD multichanger either.

Definately not the over-the-counter BMW iPod kit, they also do not support the current charging function of the curent model iPods.

Look into a kit like the mObridge, this will support the current model iPods (including 3G/3GS iPhone) and offer much improved browsing speed.

Are you sure? Check your manual, it is VERY hard to find the USB but it should be there...well mine is but not sure of spec differences etc.

Looked pretty much everywhere, will dig out the bible and have a look.

Mines a July 08 registered E90 M3, asked about the USB fitting in the glove box, but like you, got quoted ridiculous money plus it still wouldn't work with the latest touch anyway!

It's just annoying, you'd think in todays techno world a usb connection would come as standard in a 50k + motor!
