Rhode Island Fun Rally
Rally
We had a good time last time. Didn't know if anyone was interested. "The Boston Chapter is happy to announce the RI Turf Farm Trot Fun Rally to be held on Saturday July 25, with a starting point at BMW of Newport www.bmwofnewport.com located in Middletown RI at 1215 West Main Rd. (Rt. 114) 02840. BMW of Newport is the Sponsor for this Event. There will be a drivers meeting at 9:30AM sharp and first car off at 10AM. This is a low key, no heavy lifting type of event that should be enjoyed by all those who participate. Limit of two persons per car so there is no unfair advantage. This route has been enhanced by Art & Wendy Frasier and many thanks to them for their help. The Rally Route will follow the back roads of Middletown, Jamestown, North Kingstown, Exeter, Narragansett and Wakefield. We will pass through Exeter’s Turf Farm area and will enjoy scenic back roads and pastoral settings. Prizes will be awarded to the top three places. The Rally Meisters decision is final. We will end the Rally near a Restaurant to be announced at the Drivers Meeting, so everyone can have lunch while we score the answer sheets and announce the winners. Cost for this event is $15.00 per car (two people per car please). To participate in this event, register for the Fun Rally on the Chapter website www.boston-bmwcca.org and you will be paying for this event using PayPal. Please bring a copy of your PayPal receipt to avoid any confusion about payment. If you need to cancel you must do so by Saturday, July 18th in order to receive a refund." __________________

I might be interested. How does the rally work exactly? You get a map with a number of check points and then youdrive? Can you use GPS or paper maps only?

"What is the famous activity done here?___________" Take a left. (which would bring you to the battle green) "What year was the battle of lexington?______________" So, technically no maps were required. Don't know if this is the same format. But I imagine so.

a note to any potential rally drivers
the event last year had a colonial theme, so it was based around concord/lexington. it was a different type of event than what i had been used to. i'm not used to having to think so much while driving! but it was a blast. if you're going to be the passenger, make sure you can handle a little bit of reading in the car. baker and i won last year and we're going for a repeat, so bring your A game!

I'm going to pencil it into my calendar. I'm supposed to be heading to FL for training the next day, but last year's was a blast.
There's a lot of emphasis on "time doesn't count" but that didn't stop a friendly competition between the Montego 1s.

Hey - is anyone besides Rachel and Mike going? I'm thinking about going, I have a friend or two I'm trying to rustle up as a partner. Does the car you drive have to be a BMW?

There's some other Bimmer (non-1's) I know who are going. No it doesn't have to be a BMW. You're all ready registered, right?

I'll be there. My neighbors got an e46 m3. I told him we'd flip a coing to see who drives. See you all there.

Why don't you and RoboSquirrel ride together, since you both need passengers?

Okay, the last person I asked to be my passenger invited me to something else tomorrow. Seeing as I also have to walk 12 miles, it's probably best to stay local. So I'm missing this one. Maybe next time.

It was nice to meet you and Robosquirrel, Rachel. I will definitely plan on attending the next event...whatever that may be. I had a good time yesterday...even if we did get lost for a bit.
