Where to stay in Miami/South Beach?

Finally taking some vacation time and gonna be using my buddy's beach house in Sarasota from May 16th-23rd. I was thinking of driving down to South Beach Miami mid-week maybe May 20th.

Can anyone suggest a good place to stay in Miami Beach thats affordable and great value. Last time i was there was 3yrs ago for a wedding cruise and i stayed in South Beach for 3 nights at the Hotel Nash. It wasn't too bad, but i was reading some recent reviews and have second thoughts of staying there again. Thought i'd try another place...any suggestions?

Bad experience? lol

I preferably wanna stay along Collins Avenue in South Beach. I thought The Nash Hotel was a nice location as it was central to everything.

I thought this property was good value:

Right on Washington Ave. Good clean rooms (a luxury on south beach). Valet parking only however (but so are most properties there).

The Fountain Blue but its not cheap. If anything go there at night you dont need to be part of the hotel to go to its clubs and bars. That place is sick. I was there about a month ago and had a blast! I ended up staying there 3 days lol..

Marriott hotels are for business purposes only! It is nice though.

BALLIN'

I'm gearing towards $150/night max. Anywhere along Collins Avenue is perfect.

The Marriott is nice. Pool is on the roof.
Aqua is not bad for the price. I like it because I can bring my dog, since most hotels dont allow dogs.

Ive also stayed at the Penquin which is right across the street from the beach.

the Penquin is just as pricey as FB, but Aqua is not too shabby. $57/night for a standard room with a queen size is hella cheap.

I don't feel like ballin' that weekend and want to stick with a budget of $150/night.

If i didn't have a budget that weekend, i'd prob stay at Fontaine hands down.

Thanks for the suggestion though! Keep them comin' guys! My ideal location is on Collins Avenue and nothing less than a 3-star hotel.

I think i've decided on a hotel. Anyone stayed at the Metropole Hotel & Suites on Collins Avenue? The price is amazing and the reviews are pretty good compared to the other boutique hotels on Collins.
