Shipping Questions

This is probably the most agonizing part of ordering a car. Production goes pretty quickly. Now the wait begins for the car to be loaded on the ship and transported to the U.S. My car was dispatched to the port of exit today - not sure what the lag time is - several days I think. The port of destination if Port Hueneme. Supposedly NYK handles shipping to the West Coast but the only vehicle carriers that are scheduled for the next two months are in late July - the Virgo Leader and Anna. I doubt my car will make it for the Virgo leader and the Anna might be kind of tight too. You would think that there would be more NYK vehicle carriers scheduled in August and Sept., or does WWL now transport to the West Coast also? Listed below are the ships that are scheduled to leave Bremerhaven for Port Hueneme between July 24 and Sept. 24. All ships scheduled after July 31 are WWL ships. Is it just that DBH logistics' does not have up to date info on NYK ship departures from Bremerhaven? Anyone have current shipping and scheduling info?

27.07.2006: VIRGO LEADER/NYK

31.07.2006: ANNA/NYK

08.08.2006: DON JUAN/WWL

15.08.2006: TERRIER/WWL

26.08.2006: TORRENS/WWL

Most likely you will get on ANNA. It takes about 7 days to get from the carrier travel to the port and then onto the ship.

Unfortunately..NYK is very difficult to track. You can call you dealer in a couple of days just to see if you got on the earlier ship....but I think 3 days is just not going to happen.

Once its on the boat...it does take about 3-4 weeks to get to PH...sorry.

Thanks for the info. I think it will just make it on the Anna if there is no backlog at Bremerhaven. Two days to the port would be Wed. The Anna doesn't leave until next Monday. If it doesn't make it on the Anna I don't know how long the wait will be for the next ship. I don't see an NYK vehicle carrier in port for a while. That doesn't mean one is not scheduled. But within the next couple of days I will call the dealership. I have been calling order tracking every day so I should be able to determine if it does get on the Anna.

Sorry to jack the thread but my car was released to port yesterday aswell, what do you think the chance of getting on the July 29th boat is...

it's pretty close, but it's hard to tell to be honest. My guess is that it will not make that one.

Is there a boat leaving on the 29th, or is the Anna arriving on the 29th?

I guess DBH is not that accurate on their scheduling info. I was worried that if my car didn't get on the Anna on the 31st then it would be a while before it was put on a ship.

My car is at Bremerhaven and awaiting a ship. The Virgo Leader doesn't leave until the 28th. Might make it on, but definitely the Anna on August 1st.
