Top Speed limited with Xdrive?

I recently broke my 1500 miles break in and tried to open it a bit on the Autobahn. I have ZSP which has the increased Top Speed Limiter but cant do more than 138 mph @ 5000 rpms. Am I limited because of the suspension?

I think it is your 17" rims/tires. It is my understanding that you need the 18" wheels for the increased speed limiter (155 MPH).

You are very right (almost). One would have to choose the option "2S1" in order to change the 17" all season tires on style "284" rims to 17" style 286 rims which will come with tires that are rated for speeds up to 155mph.

Cost at point of order: $300.

Sorry for the bad news. But 138mph is quite fast too....

You are all very right! I went to the stealership today and it took a bit of work (they speak very little english and know nothing of american spec) but we came to the conclusion that i have the all season tires which sets the limiter. Thanks for the help guys

Yah i done it once on CLEAN PAVEMENT and never doing it again.
Just tried once after i saw a member post that turning the traction all the way off gives you no limiter.
I did see my arrow hit 150+...Pretty dumb choice tho.

I did turn it off. No difference. I was on the open Autobahn on a sunday. Germans don't leave the house on Sundays.

tires: factory set 130 for all seasons and 155 for summers... you can put summers on them then go ask the dealer to up the limit.. they'll probably want $ as usual..

They said they would do it now but I would have to pay Euro. I don't need to go that fast anyway. Just wanted to make sure I got what I paid for.

X drive, traction control on, 18" 162's and summer tires and you will do 155 no problem.

I fell like it wouldn't be that easy at a BMW dealership.

Just curious, but why would I be looking to do over 130 mph?

I do drive on the autobahn to work everyday. Cruise control is usually about 110-115. Its only a 10 mile drive and its very open. Only wanted to do it once but couldnt. I figured i paid for it i should be able to do it. Dont really care too much anymore now that i know what the problem is.

Have you ever driven on the Autobahn? 200km/h is completely normal and hardly even considered fast. I was doing about 220 once, just cruisin, and got absolutely blitzed by a Cayenne Turbo S followed by an M3. They were probably doing close to 300 km/h. So awesome

Anyone try top speed with the Stage 2 ECU Dinan upgrade? It is supposed to take off the speed limiter, so I was told by the Dinan guy. I've only had mine up to 145mph, that was before the ECU upgrade.

Last I checked the Autobahn was in Germany. I assume that is what he was referring to. I've driven on the Autobahn many times and honestly not everyone is running 200km/h. I would venture to guess that the average speed in the travel lane is closer to 140-160km/h.

180-200km/h is normal in the left lane. i just got back from 2 weeks in germany/switzerland/austria and drove the autobahn many times. my experience was that if you are driving 200km/h for a long stretch, chances are you will have to yield (in some cases to 4-cyl econo boxes) many times. i saw an Audi A2 doing well over 200km/h.
