DIY: Changing out hood vents
Any DIY instructions on how to remove the two hood vents. I need to install the CF trim piece in place of the painted one.
Thanks! |

Figured out how to do it. Pull off rubber grommet from inside of hood. Take plastic wedge and going from the inside of the hood press up on the tabs holding the painted hood vent ring in place. Work your way around releasing all of the tabs. Then remove the hood vent from the outside but lifting up. Take out the black mesh inner piece and put this in the new vent surround. Then press it down into the hole in the hood until all of the tabs lock in place. Reinstall the grommet and repeat on the other side.
Just be careful releasing the tab so you dont snap any off. |

^^^I've been wanting to do that for some time now. It doesn't stand out too much on IB, but on a color like mine (Space Gray), it would contrast a lot better.

I just got mine from JL-Motoring. They are carbon fiber overlays.
