Travelling to Midwest for Holidays (OH, IN, IL portion)

I am going to Rock Island, Ill from DC for Thanksgiving possibly and would like info on speed traps or where to be more vigilant. I know don't speed and I won't have to worry about tix.
My route as it applies to this regional forum:
OH to Indianapolis: I-70
Indianapolis to Rock Island: I-74 to 80

For the curious the rest of the trip will take me through:
MD: 270 to 70 to 68 into W. Va
W. Va: 68 to 79 into PA
PA: 79 to 70 into back into W. Va to OH (I could also take 70 out of MD to PA Turnpike @ Breezewood. Take PA TP to W. Va then OH.

If you think taking through PA 76 to 80 all the way across is better, let me know. I did both on google maps and the time diff is minimal. The only diff is $25 in tolls.

I-70 usually isn't too bad through Ohio. With it being a holiday, you're more likely to encounter police enforcement, but they're not out to get you for going a few mph over the limit.

The greatest thing about Ohio is that the officers must have their cars in sight and must always have at least their parking lights on, so you can usually see them well in advance.

Indiana is a different story. They have unmarked cars and they like to hide. I refuse to go a single mph over the limit in Indiana – just too risky for me.

^^ What G5Ti said... Be careful in Indiana, especially during that Week/Weekend. With that being said, I have never had a problem running 5 over in Indiana. At that speed they have bigger fish to fry. Stick with the flow of traffic and you'll be fine.

** I'm not condoning speeding or breaking any other laws!

One thing you should be aware of however is the Ohio Highway Patroll also does speed timing from aircraft. It's a grey and black Cessna 182 and it can be really hard to spot if it isn't a clear day.

They basically pick a car that is passing or just plain looks like it's faster than traffic. They have big white marks on the road and they just time you along a measured distance. Then a mile ot two latter the cruser they radioed to pulls out and gets you.

Still, better than speed cameras.

Some tips: stay in packs, stay around cars the same color as you (they can't tell much more than what color and basic body style), don't stick out, it's pretty easy to see a car going 20mph faster then traffic from 2,000' up, and I'd say don't speed but....
