The drinks holder thingummy
I was wondering whether we get the cup-holder attachment on the passenger's side of the footwell as standard or optional equipment over here.
Does anyone know? As ugly () as it looks its probably rather functional. |

It wasn't on the car that I saw yesterday if thats any help. I agree its not an attractive addition. The other thing I took note of was the pedals. All just regular rubber pedals (dead pedal included). Thought we might get the M dead pedal.

i have seen pictures of (admittedly american market) cars that do not have idrive and yet do have the cupholder. according to jeremy clarkson, americans need extra and huge cupholders for their buckets of coca cola, so you may be right that its just for them.
so for us then, as an accessory, its probably priced very competitively at only $399 isn't it? (installation extra) |

The cup holder is easily removed by pulling upwards on its base and the hole is elegantly concealed by a spring-loaded, chromed blanking plate that moves into position automatically.

You don't have top look at it, it pulls out of the slot on the side of the console, and you can store it in the glovebox - if you need it slip it back in.

I had a sit in a Sedona red 135i in Tokyo today - it's was obviously Japanese spec, but certainly didn't have that extra cup holder slot. In fact none of the 1's I've seen have had it - with the exception of ones in US photos.
Interesting - the sales guy told me that they have delivery times of around 1yr on the 135i's in Japan! Also interesting to see that the Japanese car uses a totally different, hard drive based GPS system (as you'd expect), which works seamlessly with iDrive. |

I think we all have to wait until next weeks launch to end this debate..:iono:
No body seems to have a clear answer. On the US forum it seems to be hit and miss by BMW. |

Although in the Australian Vert spec sheet it does say under "Comfort and interior equipment"..."Cupholders at the front,attachable"...
That is under standard equipment.. |
