Rear attaching bicycle rack

Hi Fellow Forummer's

I would like to attach my mountain bike to the back of the 135, but my current rack design is for towbars only that the 135 cannot get.

I read on the website that there is a rear attaching bike rack and want to know if anyone have used it at all?

I dont want to do the roof mounting system.

Thanks

There's a bicycle rack on page 5 of the 1 series hatchback accessories brochure. This may also fit on the coupe.

Thanks for the pdf

That is exactly the one i'm looking for. Looks like it attaches to the bumper so no tow bar needed.

It will work well but is pricey. I was quoted $1500 Canadian after install.

Yeah - the US price for the BMW-branded bike racks (either trunk mount or roof mount) are really expensive. $500+

I want to find a decent 3rd party trunk mount for 2 bikes that wont break the Bank. anyone have any suggestions?

Found one - the Yakima King Joe model (for 2 or 3 bikes) fits the 135 (according to Yakima's website configurator, at least) Apparently so does the Super Joe (2 & 3) I'm going to pick up a King Joe 3 tonight and report back when I use it.

bought it last tuesday - was away for the weekend and didn't have a chance to put it on yet.

Going to try setting it up this afternoon to see how it fits. Will post (hopefully w/ pics) when I do.

The OEM bike rack that attached to the rear of the car is about 400 bucks now. It seems to pick up the tow hooks on the rear bumper, but the car only has one hole in the bumper cover. It looks as though another hole is cut for the installation. Has anyone been through this? Do they have pics? Cheers

I was told that the BMW version is not available for the Canadian market as displayed on the US site. And I would attach anything that is not to a tow bar. I've owned those universal setups and they always cause headaches with paint scratches, shifting and lost of truck access if you have the convertible 128 or 135. I am going to wait till someone makes a hiddenhitch or something similar. hell, maybe it will be soon since I've seen some vendors attempting to make a killing on after market parts and customs. (Read the eye lid post in this forum).

Can a 128i convertible handle a tow bar bike rack? Anyone know of a non-BMW rack that will work with the 128?

It has been years since this original post, but I am also thinking about a bike rack. The available photos from BMW don't show anything about how it is connected. What are the good solutions for a 2011 135i vert? Photos?
