Voice command nav?
Can you tell the nav a destination via voice command and have it route it for you that way or do you have to manually input it?

I think you only get Voice Command with Assist.
But if you have it, yes you can use voice commands to input nav destinations. It's a little hit or miss as to it successfully recognizing certain names, however. |

It's a great question... Voice command is a wonderful feature that many cars are starting to use more and more.
I haven't tried using the nav much, other than to program the "home" destination and setup certain default preferences. My sales agent told me that only the telephone responds to voice commands... but that could be mistaken perhaps. Someone should check the owners manual on this. I'll check it when I get a chance, but someone may already post an answer by the time I can check, which would be fine. I'd like to know the factual answer as well.

I may be confusing previous generations of NAV/Assist on the Voice Command feature.
You may very well get Voice Command with just iDrive, w/o the need for Assist. Can anyone verify? |

I believe this is how it works: iDrive only-->Voice Commands for navi, climate control etc. but no BT phone functionality. BMW Assist/BT only-->Voice Commands for telephone functions only i.e. answer phone, call so and so, hang up. idrive and BMW Assist-->All of the above
