Question for me is, how long does it take to get from Germany to Melbourne?

Maybe it's a 125i? :iono: (I'm just taking a punt and guessing)

Nope, it's a 135i. It says on one of his post that it is a AW 135i, roof and hi-fi. Maybe it's auto???

LOL, shows who didn't put a VIN in on the website. (Maybe because I don't have a 135 on order...)

Looking at the progress of Richard's car, here are the lead times from date of production:

Built 14/2/08, shipped 25/2/08 - 10 days
Due in Melbourne on 6/4/08 - 6 weeks travel time.

Which means 7 weeks 3 days from built date to arrival in Melbourne.

Considering my car (and yours I think) was built in week 13, say 26/3/08, this would mean arrival in Melbourne on or around 18/5/08. Clear the port, customs, local transport, dealer PD....... my punt is we'd get our cars in the last week of May.

I wait with interest to see your VIN to determine what week build mine is. Never asked the dealer so no idea. My letter did say March production which means week 13th would be as late as possible...

Dealer said arriving May 20th - apparently.

That forth number in that sequence that starts with 72 is just a computational check digit number. Doesn't mean anything at all. I am curious as to your last 7 letter and number though. Doesn't seem to fit.

OK I got my VIN today. Its WBAUC72060VF18633

Apart from the "60" bit, it looks like all our cars except Sydneysider's came off the production line close to each other - Just 3 cars from Steve B's and 6 from Wayne's.

I'd imagine we'll all on the same boat.

Just checked the WWL website and still nothing there....

Kris can you add Richard's WBAUC72050VF18445 which is the only one that made it onto a ship so far?

It seems the May 19th/20th is about right. Shame really because I've now got colour envy and fancy red leather...I might have to buy a set of loose seat covers instead! Does anyone think it's likely that all the vehicles between the numbers quoted between jeffM's and d3syd's are all one series vehicles? If there are other models interspersed between them then BMW aren't selling many others are they and that can't be right. I was just wondering roughly how many will come in on the first boat.

I believe the "UC72" part of the VIN is the model code, so if that part stays the same, they would be all 1ers. All our cars except Richard's is not on the first boat. So far look like Richard's car is the first to arrive and make it for the launch date.

The rest haven't been loaded on a ship yet.

I imagine there would only be a few 1ers per shipment, as BMW will want to space them out and not ship all 200 cars in the one go to have them sitting around unsold (if demand is less than anticipated).

I think all of ours can still make the launch date. The cars only take 3 weeks I think to get here from Germany. Maybe someone else can confirm. Then it will take another 1-2 weeks for custom and dealership before getting to us.
