It depends if you'll be adding the storage compartment package i think.

Otherwise there should be one underneath the armrest (in between the 2 seats) and one in the ashtray in front of the gearstick.

You're not considering hardwiring it?

I can pretty much guarantee there will be Do-It-Yourself instructions on 1Addicts within a matter of days after the 1-Sereis is released. Or, take the DIY info to an car audio shop, they'll hardwire it for you.

Hardwire is the way to go, but make sure it's a switchable circuit so it turns on and off with the ignition. On my MINI I tapped into the heated seat fuse. Hope to do same with 135.

Well, some places sell connectors that you can plug in to another connector under the dash that allows power to be taken off at that point. Those are completely removable. In some cars, ther eare also unused connectors that you can get power from just by installign a fuse, depending on the options you got.

Like someone else said, I'm sure people will figure this stuff out pretty quickly after the cars are available.

Radar detector harwire DIY from e90post.

It's completely reversable, and fairly easy to do...

Yes, I plan on doing the hardwire complete install. But initially I'll be using the cord/lighter plug.

Yes I was pondering the same question as well. With the lighter plug located under the arm rest instead of the dash like most cars, the lighter cord has a long way to stretch to the detector on the windscreen. Looks like hardwiring is the way to go.

Is it different for you 'others' down under? Here we get one under the armrest, and one in the ashtray, right at the dash.

Can u remove the radar if it is hardwired? Don't want some punk smashing my window for a radar detector.

If the detector unplugs at the detector itself (like pretty much every one I've seen), then yes, it is removable.

I ordered a hardwire kit and concealed display for my V1 today, I will probably install it next weekend assuming I get my car Saturday.

Guys. Hardwiring in BMW's is really easy. Using a voltmeter locate an unused spot in the fuse box, turn on the ACC and determine which one is on. Use a standard spade lug on the power wire in question and slide onto the unused fuse location. For the ground any metal surface will do. Just find a screw and put the ground wire on it. That's it.

Takes all of ten minutes maybe.
