Water sound on diesel tank side. 2017 420D Cabrio
I hope it’s ok to start a new thread. I couldn’t find the one I’d googled. That one turned out to be a trapped water bottle. My husband is having a panic as there’s a significant water sloshing sound on the diesel tank side. LHD car still under BMW used car warranty.
He had a problem a few months ago with standing water in the boot area that caused his audio system to blow. Expensive repair, not covered by the warranty. As there was no remaining water anywhere….hot, dry summer, BMW didn’t do anything. Now there a definite musty smell. He filled the fuel tank to ensure it wasn’t just this as normally, his radio switches on when he starts the engine. Today it didn’t for whatever reason. So, the problem might have existed for a while. Is there a simple fix for this that he could maybe do himself? If a known problem, where does the water usually enter from? I’d guess the warranty might not cover such a problem? Many thanks in advance. Last edited by Mhk1919; 10-15-2023 at 09:27 AM.. |

I think I found the answer….blocked lower drainage and rear window seals slightly offset towards the rear on both sides…approx 1mm. Is there anything else to check? Many thanks in advance
