How much did you put down for deposit?
Never having purchased a new vehicle from a BMW dealership, I'm at a loss. Do you negotiate the deposit amount? If so, do they talk you into depositing more for a more secure spot? Sort of judge your intent by your deposit amount?
Or is it fixed by the dealership that you either accept or decline? I'm still searching for the best and lowest price dealership, too -- probably East Bay BMW in the SF bay area. Suggestions welcomed. |

My advice is just find a dealership that is willing to even take a deposit for the car, make sure you are in at least the top 4 to have a deposit down, have them guarantee they will not charge over MSRP. If they can do that for you, pay what ever they want for a deposit. It will go toward the car anyways, so the deference between $1000 and $1500 is no big deal. I have a $1500 on mine, but no local Seattle area dealer would take my money so the one that did is in a remote area about 250 miles from my house but guaranteed me first spot and not a penny over MSRP. You will not be able to do better for a first dealer allocation car than that.

500 down, number one, at MSRP, but i might drop in and put another 500 down just so no one jumps the list on me even though the purchase order is time stamped
if your gonna put a deposit down, sign a purchase order with the date and make sure they write "MSRP" in the sale price. and keep your receipt of the deposit. |

they are asking 2k at ours... we have our spot "resevred" right now as #6 out of 8 in the allocation... but i would be much more comfortable giving them the normal 1k... anyone have suggestions in the nj/ny/ct area? thanks!
