BMW 1-Series Convertible coming to U.S. in April for $40k

Here's the link :http://www.egmcartech.com/2007/10/08...april-for-40k/

When BMW announced the 1-Series Convertible at the end of last month, we were thinking about how it wouldn’t sell for less than $40,000. Then it got us thinking that why someone would pay $40,000 for a compact convertible when they can go for the larger 3-Series Sedan or Coupe.
Either way, according to Automotive News, BMW will be launching the 1-Series convertible in the U.S. in April right next to the 1-Series coupe. While the coupe will go for in the low to mid $30,000 range the convertible is expected to start at the low $40,000s.
The soft-top convertible will come in the same variants as the coupe. The 128 will be powered by a 3.0 liter inline 6-cylinder engine producing 230 horsepower. The 135i will be powered by BMW’s twin-turbocharged 3.0 liter inline 6-cylinder engine that produces 300 horsepower. BMW says that it will do 0-60 in 5.6 seconds.

No way the 128 starts at $40k. I'm not buying it, maybe the 135, but definitely not the 128.

I like how they title it like a definite statement when its just a random editor's personal crapshoot guess. :iono:

I don't think the pricing discussion in that little blurb carries ANY credibility.

They are obviously talking about the 135i Convertible...The 328i Convertible starts at $43,200..The 128i Convertible will be about $35K-37K

guys, I would never post an article on here without knowing if this was a credible source or not, Autoblog, autospies, and egmcartech, are really reliable sources and have been right many times with the auto industry. The webmaster of autospies himself has been to frankfurt, got to test drive the new M3, and many new bmw models soon to come.
