Is the bottom rear bumper Plastic

I was looking closer at the exterior pictures and I noticed the middle section of the rear bumper looks to be plastic :frown:. This will be annoying to wax the car around that area.

Someone please tell me I am wrong.

The whole bumper cover is plastic, but I guess the issue is whether the bottom insert for the M Sport version is waxable. It doesn't look like it IMHO.

I would love it to be plastic. Easy and cheap to repair.

I was thinking it would be a easy swap from the plastic to some carbon fiber, also allowing for dual or quad exhaust setup.

Yeah all I want it a painted piece in it's place. I don't like the transition to black plastic. Maybe aftermarket will answer.

I'm sure it would be easy enough for a body shop to color match and paint...

Black piece under the rear bumper (pseudo under-body spoiler) is a fashion these days. I personally like it.

Its plastic. I personally love it also. Better it be plastic than a type of metal.

Good point, anything from the designs of Pininfarina is pure sex. I know the bumper is plastic to cut down on weight, corrossion ( and cost) but if the "black area" could serve as a functional spoiler it would be easier to justify have to tape everytime I wanted to wax.

The bumper of my M3 has that black plastic diffuser as well. I've never had any problems waxing it. The molding, however, was another story. I painted my molding to match the body color.
