M Steering wheel thickness

Hi All,

I'm trying to find out the thickness of the M Performance steering wheel vs the non m wheel. I understand the the m wheel is thicker than the non m, but is it because of the core is thicker or is it because theres extra padding between leather and core in the m wheel? Does the m wheel feel like that theres more padding?

Yes and yes. I had a 2022 rental while my M40i had its first visit to the shop.

The non msport was thinner and much more ridged. The msport is softer to the touch and a little more padding.

Thanks flippco.

So, if i add a little more padding to the non m wheel, i should be able to feel similar to the m wheel?

Maybe, depends on the cover and padding.

thanks. I'm planning to do a rewrap of my wheel. Thinking whether I should add some padding. Sounds like I should.

If you have a heated steering wheel re-wrapping might mess with the warmth or heating wires.

Just something to consider.

thanks Rob175 for the note. I'm planning to get a pro to do the work. I would think they would know what to do, but just to be safe, I did ask them. I'm waiting for their reply.
