Audio from phone via USB?
Has anyone gotten this to work? I understand that the sound quality would be better with a wired connection compared to BT, but when I connect my Pixel it says USB device not recognized. I went and changed the mass storage settings to file transfer, but still nada.

Maybe the secret is using the arm rest usc-b instead of the cup holder usb. The arm rest seems to work.

I assume this will work with CarPlay off? Because I thought CarPlay is wireless only?

Mine works even if my phone is connected to CarPlay. It shows up as a separate Media source in the list.

OK, scratch that on my earlier post. I turned off the BT thinking I'd force it to connect via cable and then discovered it was connected via wifi. When I disconnected the wifi from the car I went back to no connection.

I'll probably post this twice - for folks using USB C in the center console, is your device formatted FAT32 or NTFS? I have a SanDisk dual stick, when I plug it into the USB port in the front it works fine, all my music is there. When I flip it and use the USB C port, nada. Doesn't even recognize the device being present.

I'm wondering if in my car that USB C is only good for charging, which would well and truly rot. Hmmm, think I just answered my own question. Page 293 / 294 of the Owner's Manual: - A USB port is located in the center armrest. Properties: ▷ USB port Type C. ▷ For charging mobile devices. ▷ Charge current: max. 3 A. Notice that "Data Transfer" is missing. The front port: A USB port is located in the center console. Properties: ▷ USB port Type A. ▷ For charging mobile devices and for data transfer. ▷ Charge current: max. 1.5 A. Oh well, that's that I guess. Last edited by lfdal54; 10-11-2022 at 07:32 PM.. |

I have a 1TB SSD (Western Digital) in the USB-C under the armrest and iDrive7 reads all my music perfectly.
