I have a Uniden R3 and was hoping to use my expensive ass blend mount in my x3m that I used in my Jeep. No such luck. The way the x3m mirror is angled the Ripoff mount I mean blend mount was slightly off and wouldn't work.
I didn't really fancy spending another 130 or so bucks on a tiny piece of aluminum so I looked around. A seller on Etsy had some options that were metal and looked promising. So for about 21 bucks, I figured why not take a chance. To my surprise, the mount works great! I'd say 9/10ths of the way to a blend mount. The looks are a little bland but who cares. The radar tucks up nicely under the mirror. There is enough adjustment to get things just right. I've had this mounted for over 2 months now and the radar hasn't moved. Doesn't bounce. Everything is still in place from when I mounted it. Bottom line, if you're looking for an alternative to a blend mount and would rather not waste money, buy this mount instead. Don't get me wrong, generally I feel you get what you pay for in certain instances but this would be one of those exceptions. Here is the seller: https://www.etsy.com/shop/GodspeedDesigns **Update Jan 2023** So I'm going on 7 or 8 months now with this mount and it hasn't budged. It's secure, hasn't required any tightening or adjusting, and is small enough to not really notice. If you don't want to spend a shit ton on a blend mount, grab one of these. Yes, the blend mount is a tad fancier but not over $100 fancier. And given the fact the radar is up under the mirror, you can barely seen the mount on a daily basis anyway. |

Very good deal! I couldn't find anything nice other than BlendMount for my BlackVue dashcam. Definitely pained me to pay $130 for it. Maybe someone will come up with one at some point that's more cost-effective.

The blend mount is a great product no doubt. And they are largely one of the best options but at a cost. |

So odd. Got tints done today, XPEL ceramic plus and installer told me to use suction cups for EZ-pass. Will call the manufacturer to clarify.

I feel like it's a bit risky. But I'm sure it may vary from installer to installer. My personal preference anyway was to avoid sticking anything on the tint.

I’ve been using the suction cup for 2+ years with my R7, windshield tinted with Suntek Ceramic and no issues at all. I do remove the detector from the mount every time I park unless it’s just a quick stop. Not sure if this matters but this is in a S4, still waiting on my X3MC.

Haha. So many S4 converts. Beat you guys to it. Trust me its a good move
I am going to use either a suction cup or get a sunvisor pouch/adapder.

I sometimes move my radar detector to my other vehicle. Can you let me know if the detector is easily removable with this setup? If so I will look into this. |

Same. B8.5 S4. Great daily driver. I have a uniden r3 attached with suction cup right behind mirror. No tint though…

Good to know. I should also add my mount is still going strong for my uniden and hasn't budged since install. Totally blown away this thing cost me about 20 bucks and performs just as well as the Expensivemount.
