Does anyone know why these features are not available for the 2021 X5 M50i ? Surprised they are no longer part of the Executive Package or even as stand alone options.

Because BMW decided people would buy the car without them?

Limited Supply of available parts and materials due to the pandemic per BMW.

X2. 2021 is not a bad time to buy a car providing you order a base model in trim. 2021 is a horrible time if you are buying top tier and want a fully loaded vehicle.

I was thinking maybe BMW wants to further separate the X5 and X7 models and push more buyers to the X7.

Some options for the X7 were removed also due to capacity restraints. In general, the X5 and X7 are being purchased by two different groups so it wouldn't be worth trying to push one into the other.

Soft close doors and heated and cooled cupholders come with the X6 Premium Excellence Package in Canada, so they are still in the BMW parts bin in Spartanburg.

I cannot personally ever think of one time I would ever use a heated or cooled cupholder.

As for the soft close doors, I saw them in an X5 when I was shopping, and didn't see how they did anything of value. Only if you only partially close the door do they come into play. Closing a car door is not something that I have had trouble with in 55 years of driving! One more thing to eventually break.

On the other hand, I have acoustic glass in my X3 and would have ordered that on the X6. What is weird is that it is still an option if you order a car in the UK.

Your not missing anything with the heated or cooled cupholders. I love soft close doors though.

Soft close doors is one of those things that I've really grown to appreciate, especially when swapping to other cars. But yea never used the cooled/heated cupholders

Same here. I can live without the heated/cooling cup holders because I don't use them. But I hate it when people slam the doors.

It really depends on each person what they use and don't use. I personally always have some kind of beverage in the car with me especially on longer trips, and love the fact that it's cold throughout the whole journey.

Absolutely love the soft close doors in both my BMW's. I think they should be standard in any high end luxury vehicle. Don't understand why they are available in other countries for 2021 but no USA. I do like the cooled/heated cupholders -rather have them then not.

And there is another option MIA for '21 the luggage compartment Pkg.
Excellent feature- automatically deploys/retracts the privacy cover when you open/ close the tailgate, powers into the floor when not needed.

Very happy I have a 2020 M50i with all 3 features.

Once you get used to the soft close feature you don't want to go back.
Why would you want to be slamming doors when it can be done quietly & gently? You like people slamming your doors?
If your worried about luxury features breaking get a base Camry or Accord.

But its less margin for BMW. If people are still willing to pay for SC and heated/cooled cupholders, BMW would happily keep adding that margin to the sale if they could.

Pretty sure they'll be back once the supply line is unaffected by the pandemic.

I drive about 2,000 miles a month and I never thought I would want heated and cooled cup holders until I had them in my 2019 X5. They really do work and keep your beverages at a nice temperature on the several hour long trips I take monthly.

BMW are restricting those features for the cars they export to Europe. They can charge higher prices for the cars in Europe, so they do what you suggest: maximize their margin.

MY21 X5M/X6M and X7s are excluded. OP is considering M50i.
