45e xline vs msports
For 45e, it seems very rare to find one with m sports at dealer's lot. Want to know how much difference you can feel in daily driving? They both have air suspension so I guess the biggest difference is just the look and steering wheel? Wife will be the primary driver lack of smooth is her biggest complaint on current q7. Do you think m sports a must have for this situation? Thanks for your help!

Edit: I guess one could argue that since the MSport package comes with 20" wheels the ride will probably be a little harsher than with the standard 19". Then again with the air suspension it may not be noticeable. |

Pressing the SPORT dynamic driving mode on vehicles with air suspensions will lower the X5 to Sport level by 20mm/0.787" and enable firmer electronic damping in the air struts. USA 45e ZMP Package

The 45e always coming with air suspension, there will be no difference at all.
I cannot compare with the normal steering wheel but the M sport steering wheel is very thick, feels nice to me but I have large hands. Perhaps your wife should try it first. I can confirm the ride is very smooth with the air suspension, much smoother than any previous car I have had, with normal or adaptive suspension. |

I purchased an XLine 45e and am very happy with it. I wanted the Air Suspension anyway and as the others have said it's standard on the hybrid regardless of trim. I did opt for 20" wheels but that was only because run flats weren't available on the 19s.
Some have commented that the XLine looks cheap in comparison, each to their own. Personally I didn't feel that the cosmetic differences were worth £2000 (M Sport @ £3500 minus 20" wheels @ £1500). M Sport does include the bigger brakes, but the standard ones must be sufficient to stop the car in an emergency plus like most 45e drivers on here, I now drive far more slowly than I used to! |

Thanks for all your thoughts. I am only consider 45e which has air suspension no matter it is xline or msports so I want to confirm both drive like the same.
Given m sports wheel is pretty thick, I guess xline actually could be a better choice for my wife. |

In regards to the dimensional differences - thickness, size – between the two, 710 M Sport steering wheel is circumferential thicker by mm's - 1.1 (0.0433071") to 1.7 (0.0668") and same overall diameter. I would say those measurements are approximate from wheel to wheel but overall minuscule differences in thickness. I wouldn't worry too much and not sure majority of consumers can discern the slight variance in thickness G01 255 and 710 steering wheel reference:

They drive exactly the same. M sport is only cosmetic on the 45e.

Brakes are identical unless you option Towing Package or 2NH M Sport Brakes in the USA.
Standard brakes are 17" front and rear discs, Continental front brakes/TRW rear. Towing Package increases discs to 18" front and rear. Same 2-piston front Brembos as 2ND M Sport but painted silver. 2NH M Sport Brakes will have larger 19" front and rear discs, 2-piston front Brembos. Rear are identical and cosmetic for M Sport brakes.

It is not made to go into corners full speed and brake at the last second. Other cars are better for that. It is quite a heavy machine. They look nice in blue (or red since a couple of weeks) Edit. Sorry just saw the post above. In Belgium m sport brakes are part of the m package. Otherwise I would have chosen them too but just for the nice color. Not for the performance. |

LexxM3 Thank you for emphasizing "in the USA" and your country may vary.
kebiN In regards to 45e brake options for Portugal: 1. Type A brakes are standard 2. Type B brakes are included with Dispositivo de acoplamento de reboque elétrico 3. Type C brakes - Travões desportivos M or Travões desportivos M em vermelho de alo brilho are only available and included with Pack Desportivo M or Pack M Plus.

My wife ordered X line so that 45e looks as environmentally friendly as X5 could
As for the brakes, we got normal ones as 45e is supposed to use regenerative breaking as much as possible. Regeneration does help stop the car. This being said, 45e is very heavy and can run fast. |
