I recently picked up a 2020 i40 with the premium package and drive assistance professional package. It does not come with the parking assistance package.

When looking at the connected drive apps available to purchase, drive recorder says it is not available for my vehicle. I know I don't have a full 360 degree camera view, but I figured it would have at least 2 cameras - one used for backup camera
- one used at the front for image processing of the road lines, cars, etc for driving assistance

I called the number listed at the bottom of the page, but they didn't know the technical reason why.

Is it unavailable to me because I don't have the parking assistance package?

That's correct, it requires the side cameras - Surround View with 3D view that is a feature of the Parking Assistance Package.

I have parking assistance. Does that mean I can simply buy an app and get the recorder? If so, how do I buy the app?

Navigate to store and you should see available services you can subscribe/purchase.

This is awesome. Thank you! Purchased it. Had really been wanting the Drive Recorder and did not know it was an option for me.

11/2019 was a perquisite for me. Option was not available for purchase until the OTA update was completed.
