Can't communicate over OBDII

Hi all,

This isn't how I wanted to make my first post but i would appreciate some advice. I just bought a 335 and was eager to play around with Bimmercode. My bluetooth OBDII adapter is an OBDlink LX (granted it's several years old) but I can't get it to communicate with the car. I tried with both Bimmercode and Torque, and in both cases it won't connect. The adapter works in all my other cars, so I'm not sure what's up. Could it be an issue with the car by any chance? Hoping you all might have some suggestions? TIA.

Do the LEDs of the adapter come on? I am using an OBDLink MX without any issues.

Oh yeah sorry, lights come on and it will connect to my phone, but that's as far as I can get.
