goop in the cracks

I just got an AW e90. I am noticing some sort of sticky, amber colored goop coming out of the cracks around the door frame and out of the drain holes on the bottom of the doors and such. Anybody else have this??

That's most likely the goop they put in between the door edge rubber and the actual door edge of the chassis. That's the only thing I can think of and they just put too much or the car was in a location that was very hot.

I believe the "goop" you are referring to is Cosmoline. BMW puts this all over the cars before shipping to protect the paint during transit. The VPC is responsible for cleaning this off. On my last 2 Bimmers, I saw very little residual Cosmoline, but it sounds like they didn't do a very good job on your car.

Mine has this as well. It's a yellow-y crusty type stuff that looks like it dripped out the bottom of the door sills. I haven't tried anything other than car wash soap on it yet but that didn't budge it. Perhaps some goof off or something similar would work?

I used a good soapy rag and it cleaned up on the doors pretty good. I used a credit card as a scraper under the hood and it came right off.

It may be excess sealant. One good thing about taking PC delivery is the factory tour. BMW fills all the body seams with a caulk like resin that provides better body insulation and water proofing. It is applied by robots and may have just been over applied, no worries just clean it off like everyone says.

Mine had this same goop. I noticed it first when it was leaking out the door and running down the side-skirt. On AW it was very noticeable. I investigated and found large globs of it coming out each of the drain holes in the bottom of each door. Greasy substance. Nasty stuff. I cleaned it with some goof-off, and hasn't reappeared. I thought it a bit strange, initially.

It's that protective wax as post #3 indicates. At the VPC, it's melted off with a hot water spray, read about it here. Here are some tips on removal. Mine for the most part were big drops of cosmoline that I could pick off with my fingers. The reason you find it near the crevices and such is because it just gets in there when they are trying to spray it off.
