I'm missing something regarding map updates.

I got a notification about a map update being recommended - 2020-1 for CA, NV & Hi. I thought that happened automatically over the air. When I looked online, it looks like 2020-2 is out. It looks to me like the Torrent for a download is about 17GB. Over the air???? Is this free? I tried to force the update by selecting 2020-1 from the car and nothing happened. I must be missing something.
