CarPlay retrofitting

I have a '16 435i obviously CarPlayless. I've began shopping options and im not opposed to doing it...just would love some options, experiences, tips and discounts

Been spending a lot of time on Kies, it all feels so tempting, im just so engine and aesthetics first. I just got a m340 with 217 miles on it as a loaner (yes, it's been nice) with the digital dash and the touchscreen, but to me at the end of the day is still CarPlay.

I hate dropping endless money and God knows I've spent enough already lol, I'd really like to spend my money correctly and as little as possible.

Lets give a shoutout to all the techies that have made this all happen 🥳

I wouldn't worry too much. All the big brands buy them from suppliers like this and just tweak the software. There are other ones from companies that have a website that use the same hardware. Also, lots of us use the Andream unit and personally for me it is perfect! So don't go spending big money on things like this. I would focus spending the big bucks on go fast bits.

There is a similar but different unit from JoyeAuto here that even supports CIC for ~415$.
It has wireless CarPlay and wired Android Auto support but it is unknown if AA also works wireless.
Note that this unit cannot use the car's microphone and requires an external mic (might result in poor audio, depends on the mic).

BimmerTech is selling their MMI Prime box for 649$.
While the price tag is high-end, the unit is actually identical to the ones sold by Andream, IndiWork and Carlinkit. The software of all of them can be used interchangeably on all units with no difference in features, only a few main menu graphics/icons are changed.

Unique-AD UK is selling a unit that claims to support both wireless CarPlay and Android Auto for ~610$. Only works for NBT or similar HUs and not with CIC.
It has a 3.5mm microphone input so it's highly likely that it requires an external mic and does not use the OEM mic.

Edit: this is from the link that was shared earlier.

Read the thread, it's over 100 pages now and there must be about 30 members on here that have all bought them and are 99% happy with them (they are not perfect, but for the price you won't find anything better).

There are various links to different sellers of these units, from different suppliers but there all the exact same hardware, just the price varies and the software has different icon's, but the features are all the same.

Thanks a ton brotha. I had read some, installation was a bit complicated but it worked very well. I will definitely continue my reading! Thanks again!

is your 435i an LCI model, do you have NBT EVO ID4? If so the process is very simple, but will require you start shopping around for parts. If you have an ID4 setup at least, PM me and I can walk you through my experience.

Easiest way to tell if you have LCI is look at the tail lights, LCI will have a thicker line for the day time running/idle lights that loop around. LCI will have a thinner line design that goes towards the outer edges of the car and becomes thicker like a fin would.
