No sound from driver door speaker but driver subwoofer working

Hi guys,

Initially the driver door speaker began intermittently working, then the sound output became very low and dull and now isn't working at all. Driver side subwoofer is still working. Any ideas? It's a 2014 318D sedan.

Can you please provide us additional information about your vehicle's navigation/audio options (HiFi, HK, etc.)? Just to verify something simple, I'm assuming the balance adjustments (left/right) are properly set?

Hi, As far as i know it's just stock parts, balance/fade are ok

I have no tweeters, i have a speaker in each of the 4 doors and subwoofers under the front 2 seats. Everything else is working bar the speaker in the driver door

Replace door speaker.

In that case you have the base system. It could be the speaker, could be in the wiring. You can test the speaker by removing it and connecting a 1.5v battery to the leads. If the cone doesn't move it's dead. A junkyard is the best bet for an inexpensive replacement. If it moves then the wiring is at fault, or perhaps the capacitor that is between the woofer and the door speaker.

Just to close this out... it was the speaker. Got a used replacement on Ebay and fitted it. Full sound again. Thanks again.
