Towing with Uhaul trailer
Hey guys!
I have a 2017 F30 320i N20 I know I can install a tow hitch to the car. I will need to do that, and I will need to attach one of those small Uhaul trailers. Is it a dumb idea to tow a small trailer with 2 wheels on the back of my 320i? Thank you!

I would recommend the Curt option unless you plan to spend $$$ on invisible/electronic hitch.
Easy DIY too... As for towing, so long as you don't exceed 200# tongue weight, you'lol be fine. |

I was planning on buying the Uhaul brand one. Is there a difference?

Mine only shows the receiver tube, which when capped is barely noticeable. There's a video of install on YouTube. I literally did it alone, if you had a friend it's a cinch. |

Here's a pic, not the best but you get the point. It will be even less visible on your car since its black! |

You probably "can", but why? Our transmissions were not designed with towing in mind, neither were our engines. It would "probably" be fine if you limited the weight and didn't do it often.
On another note, I would personally never buy a used vehicle (especially a BMW) if I saw an aftermarket tow hitch and I also knew the vehicle wasn't designed for towing. My basic assumption is that there has been unnecessary stress on drivetrain and suspension components that could limit their life. If I were in your shoes, I would rent a u-haul van or truck. If you have to transport your car, dolly behind or have it shipped. |

Here is the manufacturer's website link. You should be able to find this somewhere in the $150 or less delivered range.
Also included the screenshots from eBay where I bought the wiring kit. I also bought a black plug from eBay. Search all part numbers into YouTube for video instructions. It should take two people about an hour. I did it 100% alone and it took about two hours. https://www.curtmfg.com/part/113673 |
