Different Dashboard Material

Hi,

Today, while spec'ing a new car at the dealer they mentioned the £500 option of 'Black with Blue stitching Vernasca Leather' included a different dash board material but they didn't have a car with it to show me.

Has anyone noticed a significant difference? Not sure I fancy paying £500 for just blue stitch work!

Thanks!

It’s on the BMW configurator.

It's most likely the Sensatec (faux leather) dash rather than the injection moulded plastic.

yes, sure, but it doesn't state a dashboard material difference (that i can see) and the picture doesn't seem to change

Thanks Burrcold, would you say it worth it over the normal dash?

Definitely! It looks like leather and gives a more upscale "stitched" dash look. I opted for the full leather dash but this would have been my second choice.

Personally I don't think it's worth it.

I agree it looks better but in my opinion not necessarily £500 better

I agree it does look nice, but not £500 nice, so didn't bother and don't even notice it now.

The material itself is nicer looking than plastic. The texture is leather like and the reflections of the sun is more natural (both options are matte). Don't try to feel or smell it because it just another plastic in the end. But as others say the stitching and the cut makes the whole a level higher. 500 euro may seem a lot but that reasoning counts for a lot of features

And this is exactly why you need to be careful not to end up with
ridiculous price tag at the end

If you are spending £500 get the park assist plus.
That costs £500 and includes surround view. It’s the first time
I’ve had It and it’s fantastic, well worth £500.

A lot of options are that way. A few seem to be opposite, like ZDH ("Dynamic Handling" package) is strange: for (US anyway) $600 you can have those "high performance" tires, another $700 gets you Adaptive suspension, so $2400 - 1300 = $1100 for the extra oil cooler and air suspension rear end.

Since I put mine in Sport+ and leave it, I don't need Adaptive suspension, but for $600 I will take the "high performance" tires as opposed to All Season or just "performance".

You've gotta think HP tires = Pilot 4S, right? For no cost over the same wheels and All Season - I'll take it!

The way I look at it is like this - spend funds to equip your vehicle with options which are not accessible after the build process. Tires and suspension can be replaced at anytime with no issues, replacing a dash on the other hand, well have fun with that! Just my perspective

This option makes the difference in interior quality feel, it is a must have over the hard plastic. And is 500 really that much on a 50-60k car ( we are talking less than 1% ) that you will get some of back

In the UK is it standard on some models?
I cannot remember seeing the option when building an M340i.

It does add to the quality look at least? Worth £500….. not sure

Is that really a £500 option?

Had to go and have a look at my car and whether it had it (It was 2nd hand so came with what it came with), and it does.
