Resisting of auto industry towards fully electric car is fascinating.
This X5 is heaviest , smallest cargo, acceleration is slower than 40i model.
And pricing probably as 50i model.

Acceleration is .1 sec slower than 40i. In several European countries including mine, it is about 50k€ less expensive with options than an identical 40i, due to CO2-based taxes. Cargo is smaller but still more than enough for most uses. Electric is not an option in sparsely populated countries with no charging network -- that, by the way, includes Germany.

I think the industry is just producing cars that people want to buy. And premium hybrids have very long delivery times, typically 9 to 12 months, probably because battery materials are difficult to source.

Same in Belgium. Base sticker price the 40i is 9.000 euro cheaper. (added the air-suspension to the 40i, comes as standard with 45e )

If you take into account registration tax (>3200 euro) and yearly road tax (1.000 euro) the price difference is much less. At the moment hybrids are exempt from these taxes.

It's even worse when you register the car not in your personal name but on a company. If I own the X5 45e 5 years, the X5 will be cheaper to own than my current 330d.

I currently pay an additional tax (VAA) of +- 220 euros net a month for the 330d. The X5 is 'only' 100 euro net a month.

In Portugal is even more fascinating.

The X5 45e is the cheapest X5 you can buy (85k).

25d is 88k
40i is 97k,
30d is 103k,
50d is 135k,
50i is 140k!!
All base models! No air susp
Amazing!

In Finland x45e is also the cheapest due to the ridiculous tax we have:

x45e 86k€
x30d 102k€
x40i 113k€
M50d 145k€
M50i 160k€

All base models, so seats and steering wheel included. Others extra.

In UK 45E is £4500 dearer than equivalent 4.0i, this doesn't take into account equipment levels but is the cheapest you can get the cars for in X line or M sport trim.

In Finland it is neither of them. Xline is an 2k extra and Msport 6k.

Leather about 2,5k, air suspension 3k, glass roof 2k, hud 1,5k, B&W 6k etc

So when I say base, it truly is a base model. Normally the extras are about 20-40k additional to the starting price.
