Help identify sound from rear when opening door
When the driver's door is opened, whether locked or not, even with no fob near, there is a sound like a motor or solenoid engaging coming from the rear. I can't determine what that is about, but it seems routine and necessary? Ideas?

If the fuel system isn’t already pressurized (i.e., the car hasn’t been driven quite recently), the low-pressure fuel pump runs to pressurize the fuel system when you open the door. This is run off of the door contact switch so isn’t tied to the fob, as you noticed.
