One thing I will say that very pleasantly surprised me was the 3 horizontal lines in the tail lights. When I first read about the e90, I was real disappointed that they didn't do LEDs in the rear tail lights and that the rear end looked very bland. But if you have the chance to see a moving e90 on the road from behind, you will see the tail lights have 3 glowing horizontal bands that are just beautiful. Very unique. To me, made up for my original disappointment in BMW's rear tail lights. Until today, I thought Nissan/Infiniti had the best rear tail light designs out there. Now I know the e90's tail lights are the bomb!

Wow! Looks good!

In the first pic, the vertical dark band in the centre of the lights looks like cat's pupils with the overall effect of a pair of cat's eyes glowing at you in the dark!

Those lines are Led's, it's a tube from Hella with Led's. It's just that they're not completely filled with them.

those lines ARE LED. Like the previous 5 series. BMW's LEDs are different from Merc and others. They like to use tubes (sometimes fiber optic like Angel Eyes) and LED/bulbs at the end of the tube. Saves a lot of LED bulbs while also having a similar effect. If you have too many like Infiniti, you'll know the pain when they start to go out after your 6th year ownership.

The BMW E90 Mechanics Training Manual says "THERE ARE NO LED's IN TH E90 REAR LIGHTS"

The lines are made by light from a normal bulb passed through glass tubes

Agree. Similar to the angel eyes in front using fibreoptic design to carry and refract light.

in the US there are NO LEDs in the e90's rear tail lights the "tubes" like the old 5er are faux. they are made with 3 bulbs going across plastic tubes.

yes, of course, a manual created by BMW, for their mechanics, about their own cars, is wrong

I'm sure you're correct

Waiting for the night time blackline pics. Still deciding whether I should get a set of blacklines or not. I'm hoping the pics will help me decide. Thanks.
